ARTWALK GARDINER was established in 2005 by Artdogs Studios in collaboration with a handful of artists from the Gardiner area. Their mission is to encourage community appreciation of the arts, connect local artists to the general public, create sustainable networks that support local artists, increase awareness of local arts organizations, and foster the creative economy through regular exhibitions and events in historic downtown Gardiner. Long_Spring Migration by Judith Long

THE RAFFLE IS BACK!
Join us at Artwalk Gardiner and enter to win a monotype print by Judith Long. Spring Migration I is part of a series inspired by the fish mills at Damariscotta Lake. The annual alewife migration from the Atlantic Ocean to Damariscotta Lake to spawn is a frenzied race by tens of thousands of fish swimming up the narrow stone stairways. They are heading to the quiet lake where their young will be born and grow for about four months. In the fall, the adult alewives and their young swim back down the ladders and return to the cold waters of the Atlantic. In three to four years these young alewives will instinctively return to their place of birth to repeat the process.
